Kara & Chad : Wedding : Montague Retreat Center Montague, MA
HOLY BALOONS YOU GUYS I FINALLYYY HAD TIME TO BLOG THIS WEDDING!!!
Wow. What can I even start with when it comes to Chad and Kara? I’ve known them both for a while and consider them some of my dear friends, so when they asked if I would photograph their wedding I was absolutely over the moon. I jumped up and down, NO SHAME. At some point they became Chara, (pronounced chair-AH) and they have been traveling the world together for years, touching hearts and creating lasting bonds with people while living out of the dopest houses on wheels while selling hand made goods at music festivals. Free-spirited and super chill, they wanted their wedding to have a festival vibe as family and friends gathered together to celebrate life, music and most of all LOVE.
The Montague Retreat Center was the PERFECT location, with plenty of room up in the field for multiple tents and campers. Guests were invited to arrive Friday evening for an awesome cookout dubbed “Veggieburgers in Charadise” where an open mic was set up and guests from everywhere took up their instruments and jammed. Everyone pitched in with a potluck dish either brought from home, cooked on the open grill, or prepped in the on-site kitchen. It was a beautiful coming together of people from all kinds of backgrounds to create a delectable feast!
With the open mic still set up Saturday morning we awoke to the sound of Alvaro, the MC of festivities, singing Elton John’s “Saturday Night’s Alright”. All the decorations were handmade DIY by the bride & her tribe so the village of attendee’s came together to get everything set up and perfect while the wedding party got ready. The wedding suite was perfect for the girls, with tones of natural light while the gentlemen got ready in an awesome yurt on the property. There were golf carts whipping around bringing people to and fo and honestly is was SO MUCH FUN seeing how everything came together perfectly.
Chara did their first look on a private path with a few close family members in attendance and there were tears of joy and hugs and it was so freaking magical I cannot even continue to type about it.
The field where the ceremony was held had the COOLEST little nook of bushed for the wedding party to pop out of. With the rainbow colored bridesmaids dresses and hand cut paper craft hearts lining the aisle the ceremony was perfectly boho. One of my best friends (Britt, bridesmaid with the orange dress) made the macrame backdrop and the florals were perfectly paired with a yellow swath of fabric Kara thrifted. There were small children, bubbles, dreadlocks, The Beatles and everything your could want in a ceremony. We called it the Charamony. It was super special.
Cocktail hour was held in the most gorgeous light and then everyone gathered for some yummy dinner. The carefully thrifted rainbow cups and varied brass candlesticks really brought the whole tent vibe together. There were beautiful speeches, and anyone was invited to speak, sing, or read a poem. I’m embarrassed to say I got up there, bawling, just to give a shoutout to the RAD PEOPLE at this wedding. There was so much JOY. So much CREATIVITY. SO MUCH LOVE.
After dinner we all danced the night away in the hall with awesome music by The Heart of Gold Band!
I hope you enjoy these photos. What a wonderful amazing weekend.
